Middle Way House, a domestic violence and rape crisis center, began a project that involves restoration of the former Coca-Cola Bottling Co. plant in Bloomington, IN to expand services and increase the organizations efficiency. Middle Way House received a $25,000 Alternative Power and Energy grant from the Indiana Office of Energy and Defense Development to install solar thermal and solar electric systems. 36 Flat, flexible solar laminate panels by Uni-Solar were attached to the roof. The solar photovoltaic electric system will generate up to 10% of the project’s need. As a part of the system, they installed a SMA-America Sunny WebBox monitor which allows Middle Way House to follow the progress of the system.
